What does 'the pit' look like?
We all sometimes find ourselves in 'the pit'. This is the time when our brains are at the point of needing to do something new in order to learn or move on. This is also the time when we'll feel that fight or flight moment. We talk to the children about this being the time we may want to cry, run, hit, shout, get a fizzy feeling in our tummies. We will want someone else to do it for us. This is THE most crucial time in learning. As a parent / carer or teacher this is the time to support them, remind them of the strategies they have which may help them out but WE MUST NOT do it for them otherwise they will never develop the strategy they need to get themselves out of "The Pit" the next time. This video is the perfect demonstration of an adult support the child to get there.
On these pages we will be adding information (website links, suggested books and leaflets etc) to support you in developing growth mindset with your family.
